NavAscend Bringing Clarity to the Business of IT
Overview
NavAscend is the brainchild of Michael Maley, Chief Technology Officer, who spent years managing and partnering with IT organizations for Fortune 500 companies and government agencies. This successful effort laid the seeds for his questions:
- How can this be done better?
- How can we make IT more responsive to the business?
- How can we ensure that processes are being followed?
- How can we prioritize tasks so we are working on the right things at the right time?
- How can we communicate to the company what we do, over and above the Service Desk?
- How can we improve the value of IT, our service delivery, our customer service, and our alignment with the business?
Increased complexity coupled with a firefighting mentality has meant that IT Departments worldwide spend more time being reactive rather than proactive. But Michael began to find ways to start to change that dynamic.
Over time, Michael developed a plan to bring all the parts of IT under the single umbrella of IT Service Management (ITSM). But with all its complexities, how could any organization that is typically understaffed and overworked ever find the time to implement ITSM?
Michael was able to visualize how ITSM and Business Process Management (BPM) could intersect to create a solution that was scalable, affordable, and easy to implement. He set out to construct a full ITSM solution, using IT language standards and best-practice IT business processes.
His goal was to build a robust, end-to-end solution, cutting out the development time and expense that IT Departments couldn’t spare to build an ITSM solution on their own.
When Michael shared his idea with Jim Byers, he found the business partner he needed to take his idea from dream to reality. NavAscend was founded, and Sequoia has now become a reality.
